LADYBRAND July 4 - SAPA

DIKWANKWETLA PARTY DENIES LEADER URGED FOLLOWERS TO KILL BROTHER

The Dikwankwetla Party of South Africa on Friday denied allegations that its leader, former chief minister of Qwaqwa Dr TK Mopeli, instructed his followers to eliminate his brother Pharaoh.

Pharaoh was shot dead.

The DPSA, which did not elaborate on Pharaoh's death, said the allegations were made by Johannes Tele before the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in Ladybrand in the Free State.

The DPSA said Mopeli and the party never instructed the assassination of anyone, including political opponents. Tele was using the Truth Commission to expediently launch scarilous character assassination on Mopeli.

The DPSA called on the commission to investigate the allegations. "We, therefore express support, loyalty, and confidence in the historic visionary ledearship of Dr TK Mopeli whose impeccable leadership record is measured by relative peace and harmony in Qwaqwa," it added.
