The South African Law Reform Commission (SALRC) invites applications from university students currently pursuing a postgraduate law qualification, who are enrolled at any South African university to provide research assistance on the investigation into the Review of the Criminal Procedure Act, 1977, a subset of the Review of the Criminal Justice System in South Africa (Project 151). Their services will be required for the duration of the investigation.
Ten (10) Research assistants are required. The successful applicants will work under the supervision of experienced State Law Advisers and Members of the Advisory Committee who are conducting research on various thematic areas in order to develop discussion papers and ultimately a report on the investigation.
The work entails conducting desktop research for benchmarking and case law including write ups as required. Acknowledgement as a co-author will be given for contribution in the various discussion papers that will be published on thematic areas. The research assistants will be working on a voluntary basis.
