Deputy Minister Nel to officiate Women's Month Commemoration Honouring 70 years since the 1975 Women's March and 30 years since the adoption of the Constitution

The Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development (DOJ&CD), Mr Andries Nel, will officiate a high-level Women's Month event on Monday, 31 August 2026, at Constitution Hill, Johannesburg. The panel discussion is organised in collaboration with the Constitution Hill Trust, the Legal Practice Council (LPC), the Commission for Gender Equality (CGE), and the Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities (DWYPD).

The event marks the culmination of the Department's 2026 Women's Month Program, whilst highlighting two major historic milestones: the 70th anniversary of the 1956 Women's March and the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the South African Constitution.

The panel will include women leaders and delegates from across the legal sector and civil society to address persistent challenges facing women in our country, such as
Gender-Based Violence and Femicide, female unemployment, economic inequality, patriarchy, and structural barriers to justice.

The Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mr. Andries Nel, will deliver the keynote address.
