The Minister for the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development, Ms. Mmamoloko Kubayi, will deliver a keynote address at the National General Meeting of the Black Lawyers Association (BLA) on Saturday, 30 May 2026, in Kimberley, Northern Cape.
Hosted under the theme, “The Necessity of Empowered Lawyers for Our Current Socio-Political and Economic Status in the National and International Discourse,” the engagement will bring together key legal sector organisations, including the South African Women Lawyers Association (SAWLA) and the National Association of Democratic Lawyers (NADEL), to reflect on the BLA’s strategic efforts at promoting transformation, equality, and inclusivity within the legal profession.
During her keynote address, Minister Kubayi is expected to highlight the importance of the transformation of the legal profession, while emphasising the continued need for collaborative and sustained efforts to address persistent challenges affecting equitable representation, and access within the sector.
The Minister will further underscore the critical role of legal practitioners in upholding the Constitution, advancing social justice, and contributing towards the realisation of the South African government’s broader transformation and socio-economic development objectives.
