Minister Kubayi to engage Umlazi Community on GBVF Prevention and Maintenance Support

The Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi, will on Friday, 06 February 2026, engage with members of the Umlazi community in the eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality, KwaZulu-Natal in a Community Imbizo, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the prevention and response to Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF), as well as to enhance access to maintenance services.

The Imbizo will provide an inclusive platform for constructive dialogue between community members, government leadership, and key stakeholders.

The engagement aims to raise awareness of the support services available to victims and survivors of gender-based violence and to reinforce government’s commitment to community-based interventions.

The Minister will also use the opportunity to engage the community on maintenance matters, with a focus on improving access to services, encouraging beneficiaries of unclaimed maintenance funds to come forward, and supporting the efficient processing of maintenance payments.

The Minister will commence her visit by conducting an oversight visit to the Umlazi Magistrate court.
