15 September 2025

The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development in partnership with the Law Society of South Africa and other participating stakeholders, will host a community engagement event for National Wills Week in Pietermaritzburg on 16 September 2025.

The National Wills Week, held annually in September, provides the members of the public with an opportunity to learn about the importance of having a valid Will and how to draft one. The campaign also helps raise awareness about attorneys’ services and makes them easier for communities to access.

Service desks will be set up at the offices of the Master of the High Court offices in all provinces supported by legal practitioners and private practice attorneys. Members of the public will receive free assistance in drafting Wills, ensuring that their estates administered according to their wishes after death.

Members of the media are invited to attend and cover the event as follows:
Date : 16 September 2025
Time : 09h30
Venue: Edendale Lay Centre, LOT 60 Old Edendale Road, Plessislaer, PIETERMARITZBURG
