The Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi, together with Deputy Minister Andries Nel, will deliver the Department’s annual Budget Vote speech before Parliament on Wednesday, 09 July 2025 at 16h30.
In the lead-up to the Budget Vote, Minister Kubayi and Deputy Minister Nel will host two key events in Cape Town:
1. A Community Engagement Session on Child Maintenance in Mfuleni on Tuesday, 08 July 2025
2. A high-level Stakeholder Engagement Session on Wednesday, 09 July 2025
During the Community Engagement, Minister Kubayi is expected to officially launch the Maintenance Matters Campaign, a proactive initiative designed to strengthen the maintenance system, fast-track payments, and ensure that unclaimed maintenance funds are efficiently traced and paid to the rightful beneficiaries. The campaign reflects the Department’s commitment to improving service delivery and enhancing access to justice for vulnerable families.
The Stakeholder Engagement will bring together Heads of Justice Department Entities, Chapter 9 Institutions, and other key stakeholders in the justice sector. It will serve as a platform to reflect on achievements from the past financial year and discuss the Department’s priorities aligned with the 2025/2026 financial year and the 7th Administration’s roadmap.
Invited guests also include the Deputy Ministers of Police and of Correctional Services, Chairpersons of the Portfolio Committees on Justice and Constitutional Development and of Correctional Services, and representatives from the Western Cape Provincial Legislature and the City of Cape Town.
