The Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mr Andries Nel, will deliver a keynote address at the General Meeting of the Black Lawyers Association (BLA) on Saturday, 24 May 2025, at the Pine Lodge Resort & Conference Centre in Gqeberha.
Hosted under the theme "The Practice of Law in the Era of Artificial Intelligence and the Fourth Industrial Revolution," the General Meeting will bring together legal professionals, academics, and students to engage on the evolving landscape of legal practice in South Africa. The programme will explore the implications of emerging technologies on access to justice, ethics, legal education, and the transformation of the legal profession.
The Black Lawyers Association is a prominent voluntary legal organisation committed to advocating for transformation, equity, and social justice within the legal fraternity and the broader society. Since its formation in 1977, the BLA has played a critical role in promoting the interests of black legal practitioners, challenging structural inequality, and contributing to policy development on justice and constitutional matters.
