Meeting of the National Task Team to deal with Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, Expression and Sex Characteristics (SOGIESC) and the Launch of the Revised National Intervention Strategy on 28 September 2023

On 8 August 2023 Cabinet approved the revised National Intervention Strategy (NIS) on Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, Expression and Sex Characteristics (SOGIESC) matters. Cabinet also noted the review and resolution of the National Task Team (NTT) to upgrade and broaden the focus on the NTT to deal with Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, Expression and Sex Characteristics (SOGIESC) issues, in addition to hate crimes and also approved the broadening of the focus of the NTT.

Cabinet also approved the elevation of the NTT to Deputy Minister level, involving the participation of the Deputy Ministers of Justice and Constitutional Development, of Police, of Home Affairs, of Health, of Social Development, of Basic Education and of Higher Education, Science and Innovation in this structure.

In view of the above, the NTT will be meeting and using the opportunity to launch the revised NIS and to inform civil society and the media of recent developments pertaining to Government’s programme on SOCIESC matters.
