21 August 2023
The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development will as part of Women’s Month Commemoration activities, host the student engagement session at the Mangosuthu University of Technology on 23 August 2023.
The student engagement session is intended to provide the students with an opportunity to engage the Department and stakeholders on the new gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF) legislation. This new legislation was enacted to strengthen the fight against the scourge of GBVF.
The rationale for taking the student engagement session to Mangosuthu University of Technology is premised on the statistics which rank the Umlazi Magistrates’ Court as the second court with the highest number of GBVF cases in KwaZulu- Natal Province. Mangosuthu University of Technology is located at the heart of the Umlazi Township.
