Justice Department and Stakeholders to walk a 5 kilometer distance and host a three day Community Dialogue Sessions in commemoration of 16 Days of Activism Campaign in Thohoyandou and Giyani

The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development, stakeholders and members of the public, will as part of 16 Days of Activism Campaign commemoration, walk a 5 kilometre distance and host a three day Gender Based Violence (GBV) community dialogue sessions in Thohoyandou and Giyani from 28-30 November 2022.

According to the national crime statistics released during the quarter of between April and June 2022, Thohoyandou and Giyani are on the list of areas with exponential rise in GBV related incidents and most rape cases which had been reported to police.

The Walk and the community dialogue sessions will take place under the auspices of the Vhembe District and Thulamela Local Municipalities, the Traditional Leadership, the Civil Society, Justice, Crime Prevention and Security Cluster Provincial Departments, Local Community Structures as well as Vhembe Pastors Forum.
