The Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mr John Jeffery, will deliver a lecture on the topic “Social media and the limits on self-expression” at the University of the Free State (UFS) in Bloemfontein, on Monday 30 May 2022.
The lecture will address the use of social media as a tool of communication, with particular focus on the potential legal implications of these interactions.
The Odeion String Quartet of the UFS as the new custodians of the “Quartet of Peace Instruments”, will play two short works. The four-string instrument represents South Africa’s four Nobel Laureates namely Luthuli, Tutu, De Klerk and Mandela and symbolise Freedom, Peace, Reconciliation and Hope.
Participants will be afforded an opportunity to interact with the Deputy Minister during the lecture. Members of the media are requested to carry their ID for gate entrance.
