Minister Lamola to host a webinar in observance of the 25th Anniversary of the signing into Law of the Constitution and the International Human Rights Day

09 December 2021

The Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Mr Ronald Lamola, will host a webinar to mark the 25th anniversary of the Constitution being signed into law. The webinar will also mark the International Human Rights Day on Friday, 10 December 2021. The webinar will take place under the theme: “The Constitution as catalyst for achievement of Equality.”

This signing into law of the South African Constitution in 1996 reconfigured our nation, from a nation marred by colonialism, racial subjugation, suppression of human rights and racial supremacy to one which strives non-racialism, non-sexism and unity in our diversity.

The webinar will afford sector stakeholders a valuable opportunity to engage in a dialogue on how the Constitution can be a catalyst to address deeply-embedded socio-economic inequalities and address intolerances that manifest themselves in society.

This webinar will be graced by the participation of among others, the former Constitutional Court Judge Albie Sachs, Mr Sello Hatang from the Nelson Mandela Foundation, Ms Abigail Noko from the Office of the High Commission for Human Rights, Ms Steve Letsike from Access Chapter 2 and Adv Bongani Majola from the South African Human Rights Commission.
