25 November 2019
The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development will, on 4 December 2019, launch the Under-the-Tree Dialogues for men and boys in Hammanskraal.
Under-the-Tree Dialogues will be undertaken across the country to vigorously engage with men and boys with an intention to change patriarchal attitudes and beliefs which tend to contribute to gender inequality – a factor which contributes towards gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF).
The dialogues form part of the Department’s programme to respond to Government’s National Emergency Response Plan to GBVF, as announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa. It also forms part of a series of interventions being undertaken by the Department as part of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children which runs from 25 November to 10 December 2019.
