The Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development Mr John Jeffery (MP) will deliver the keynote address at the stakeholders’ expert consultative forum on the systematic measurement of discrimination in South Africa on Wednesday, 19 September 2018 at the Premier Hotel, Midrand.
The forum will present and discuss the final recommendations of the technical assistance project on the Analysis of Methods of Data Collection on Incidents of Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance. The technical assistance project includes amongst others a comparative study of international best practices and fieldwork research project comprising stakeholder consultations to assess data and information in South Africa on racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related forms of intolerance.
The forum will be held in partnership with the European Union and the Foundation for Human Rights in support of the National Action Plan to Combat Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance (NAP) which lists as a core objective the collection and analysis of data regarding racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance.
