Deputy Minister Jeffery to deliver a Keynote Address at the Child Trafficking Workshop in commemoration of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons

In commemoration of the World Day against Trafficking in Persons, the Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mr John Jeffery will deliver a keynote address at the Prevention and Combating of Trafficking in Persons workshop on Monday, 30 July 2018.

The Justice Department is hosting the workshop in partnership with the European Union (EU) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) under the auspices of the Global Action against Trafficking and Smuggling of Migrants Programme. The programme aims to assist 13 selected countries (Belarus, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, Kyrgyz Republic, Lao PDR, Mali, Morocco, Nepal, Niger, Pakistan, South Africa, and Ukraine) to develop and implement comprehensive national counter-trafficking and counter-smuggling responses.

The workshop will be held under the theme: “Responding to the trafficking of children and young people”. This will be a public event that seeks to raise awareness of trafficking in persons among community leaders from the various townships in the Cape Town area.
