The Minister of Justice and Correctional Services Advocate Michael Masutha, MP, will deliver the keynote address at the launch of the 2018 Ismail Mahomed Law Reform Essay Competition on Friday, 23 February 2018 at the University of South Africa (UNISA).
The Competition, established in 1999 by the South African Law Reform Commission (SALRC) in honour of the late Chief Justice Judge Ismail Mahomed, aims to promote critical legal writing by students currently studying Law. This encourages learners to generate new innovative ideas towards law reform, as aligned by the South Africa’s priorities as a developmental state. It further seeks to encourage legal scholarship and public dialogue on the links between law reform, human rights and the rule of law.
