National Conference on Human Rights in South Africa, 18-20 March 2024.
This year, South Africa celebrates 30 years of Constitutional Democracy and Human Rights. As we reflect on this significant milestone, Minister Ronald Lamola and the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development are convening the National Conference to assess the progress and chart a way forward in advancing human rights since 1994. Held under the theme: “Three Decades of Respect for and Promotion of Human Rights”.

The theme for the conference was "Strengthening the Integrated Criminal Justice System to keep our people safe and secure".

The National Conference to reflect on the “Progress made towards the implementation of the DDPA on the Elimination of all Forms of Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance in South Africa – Reflecting on the WCAR20, in the context of the 25th Year Anniversary of the Constitution”.
The Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Honourable, Ronald Lamola (MP), cordially invites all to a National Conference to be hosted by the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development to reflect on the World Conference against Racism (WCAR) 20 years on and to assess progress made towards the implementation of South Africa’s National Action Plan to Combat Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance (NAP).

Fighting the scourge of Gender Based Violence Community Imbizo, Delft, 13 May 2022
The Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mr John Jeffery, will on Friday, 13 May 2022, host a justice service delivery Imbizo at Delft, Cape Town. The Imbizo is part of the Department’s recently launched Year of the Community programme and will focus exclusively on the on-going fight against Gender Based Violence and Femicide. Minister Lamola to host a webinar in observance of the 25th Anniversary of the signing into Law of the Constitution and the International Human Rights Day
The Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Mr Ronald Lamola, will host a webinar to mark the 25th anniversary of the Constitution being signed into law. The webinar will also mark the International Human Rights Day on Friday, 10 December 2021. The webinar will take place under the theme: “The Constitution as catalyst for achievement of Equality.”

The Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mr John Jeffery will lead a panel discussion under the theme: “The Constitution as an enabler for fostering inter-continental relations – towards a better Africa and a better world.”
The discussion takes place as part of the Department’s celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Constitution, and this particular session is convened as part of Africa Month commemorations.
The Department held a Justice Services Imbizo in Tembisa (in the open space next to the Tembisa Magistrates Court) on 21 May 2021.
