  • Raise awareness about, and eradicate, conscoius and unconcious bias.
  • Strengthen the response mechanism among organs of state in dealing with matters of racism, racial discrimination and xenophobia.
  • Formulate recommendations o how to collectively and practically achieve these goals.

As part of 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children Campaign, Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mr John Jeffery led a march in Nyanga, Cape Town, on 06 Dec 2021, to raise awareness of the rights of LGBTIQ+ persons.

The march was followed by an information session that is focusing on legislation, policies and services to combat and prevent hate crimes against LGBTIQ+ persons and to empower communities with information on how to protect and promote the rights of the LGBTIQ+ persons.

Deputy Minister Jeffery hosts Provincial Symposium as part of the 25th Anniversary of the Constitution Celebrations in Cape Town, 02 Dec 2021
The Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mr John Jeffery, is accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Ms Thembi Nkadimeng, at the Western Cape Provincial Symposium hosted the the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development as part of the celebration of the 25th anniversaryof the South African Constitution. The nationwide program of symposia is aimed at creating a platform for national reflection on the current state of democracy, Constitutionalism, nation building, gender equality, youth empowerment and well as service delivery and social stability. The symposia are held under the theme, "One Constitution, one nation".

Africa Day Walk, Cape Town, 24 May 2021

This morning, 24 May 2021, the Department lead a walk in Cape Town on the eve of Africa Day (25 May) – a day which aims to promote African unity and deeper regional integration. This year, Africa Day is also celebrated in the historic 25th year anniversary of the Constitution which espouses the values of human dignity, non-racism, non-sexism, equality and the supremacy of the rule of law.

Justice Services Imbizo, Tembisa, 21 May 2021

The Department held a Justice Services Imbizo in Tembisa (in the open space next to the Tembisa Magistrates Court) on 21 May 2021. Information was offered on services such as Maintenance, Sexual Offences, Domestic Violence (Protection Orders), Master's Services (Deceased Estates, Guardians Fund, etc), Family advocate Services (Co-parenting, Parental Plan, etc).
